Pascal Danz | Blind Spot Brussels Solo Exhibition12 November 2009 - 09 January 2010 Pascal Danz's first solo exhibition in Belgium.
Review HART magazine 3 Dec 2009 (NL)
Pascal Danz's paintings are simultaneously seductive and troubling, broodingly romantic and highly contemporary. His starting point for his engagement with images, is photographs sourced from the internet. His visual investigation is driven by disturbance. Danz often deliberately selects pictures distributed by a variety of media and those that he finds troubling and irritating because of their doubtful quality, overexposure or crude choice of frame. The artist's interest is triggered by the faulty nature of these images, the validity of which is annulled when their supposed objectivity is overturned. The painterly process opposes the conscious, applied search for initial images: Danz must appropriate what he feels is the blemished, objectively 'wrong' image by painting it into a subjectively 'right' image - vigorously, intuitively, indulging in colour and by blending in spots of colour into landscapes, interiors and bodies.

'The Ninth Floor' | solo exhibition by Jessica DimmockJanuary 31 - March 8 2009 Internationally acclaimed series 'The Ninth Floor' - first showing in Belgium.
The Ninth Floor is just like any other floor in a Manhattan building. But in this case it is the apartment where a group of addicts buy and sell drugs, sleep, argue, make love and fight. For almost three years Jessica Dimmock followed the stories of the ninth floor and of its residents. Many have photographed the tragedy of the world of drugs, but the strength of these images gives a new and extraordinary account, both intimate and raw.
